ESTEVAN, Sask. — Members of the Estevan Police Service (EPS) made arrests for assault and uttering threats in recent days.
According to the Oct. 8 police report, the EPS received a report of an assault during day shift, which resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old Estevan woman. The EPS said she was subsequently charged and released on conditions, with a future court date to speak to the matter.
That same day, EPS members investigated a panic alarm at a business northwest of Estevan. On arrival, the EPS said it was determined that staff accidentally set off the alarm and no emergency existed.
Following multiple complaints of a dog running at large, a well-being check was conducted on a man in the Valleyview area. The EPS said the individual was located safe and well and indicated he had been away from the residence. He was cautioned about permitting the dog to be at large.
A report came in of a woman riding a bicycle and yelling at residents in the Centennial area. Members attended the area, the EPS said, but she had left the scene.
A noise complaint involving a semi-tractor-trailer parked near an east-end motel was investigated during night shift. The driver was located asleep in the vehicle and asked to reduce the volume of the music playing, as it could be heard by motel guests. He was cautioned under the Estevan noise bylaw.
Multiple compliance checks were conducted on individuals bound by court-ordered conditions during the night shift. All were found to be following their requirements.
Members of the EPS patrol unit and Police and Crisis Team assisted Estevan EMS on Oct. 7 with a medical emergency involving a 21-year-old woman. The EPS said she was assessed at the scene and subsequently transported to St. Joseph's Hospital for additional care.
The EPS received a complaint of a possible identity theft in which the EPS said a line of credit was opened in the victim’s name without their knowledge. The matter remains under investigation.
A report of an individual being chased and threatened during the night shift resulted in the arrest of an intoxicated 43-year-old Estevan man inside a local business. The EPS said he was subsequently lodged in cells until sober, charged with uttering threats and released on conditions of no contact with the victim. He will appear in Estevan Provincial Court at a later date to speak to the charge.
EPS members attended to an Oct. 6 report of a verbal dispute involving a man and a woman in front of a business on Fifth Street. No physical altercation had occurred, the EPS said, and officers spoke with both parties before they went their separate ways.
Police also responded to a business where an individual suspected of previous fraudulent activity was reported to be present. The EPS said officers attended and spoke with the individual, and the matter remains under investigation.
The EPS received a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance in progress. Members attended, the EPS said, and mediated an argument between family members. No further police assistance was required.
