The Regina Pats are sending a trio of teenagers to the world stage, and they’re bringing a little gold-medal swagger with them.
Forwards Maddox Schultz and Liam Pue, along with prospect Logan Henry, have been named to Hockey Canada’s rosters for the 2026 U17 World Challenge, running November 1-7 in Oakville, Ontario.
Schultz and Henry will represent Canada White, while Pue will suit up for Canada Red. Pats Manager of Hockey Operations and Goaltending Coach Max Paddock will also join Canada White as its goaltending coach.
Pue and Schultz are no strangers to wearing the maple leaf. Both stars are returning to the tournament after helping Canada earn silver at the 2025 edition.
They also enjoyed gold-medal success together at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup this past August, where Pue led with six goals, setting a record for a Canadian underage player. Although he won’t be on the same team as his linemate, Pue is excited to represent his country again.
“I think it’s so special any time you get to throw on that Canada jersey. You don’t take it for granted, and I think it’s going to be such a cool experience.”
Pue has continued his strong play into the WHL season, recording 10 points in seven games with Regina.
Schultz will no doubt be a threat for Canada White, coming off of a hot streak at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup where he tied the scoring lead with 10 points in five games.
“Obviously it’s going to be super fun for both Liam and me to represent Canada, obviously on two different teams,” Schultz said.
The first overall pick in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft has seven points in six games so far in the 2026-27 WHL Regular season. He's also eager to return to the international stage.
“It should be fun. We’re looking forward to it, and hopefully one of us can bring home a gold medal.”
