REGINA, Sask. — A 26-year-old man and woman are facing a combined 50-plus charges following a break and enter investigation that led police on a pursuit through the city and ended with a police dog apprehension.
At approximately 1:35 a.m. on Oct. 14, police responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence in the area of Ferndale Crescent.
While responding to a call for service, the Aerial Support Unit (ASU) observed a suspicious vehicle leaving the area and monitored it as it travelled throughout the city. When the driver became aware of police, the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed. The vehicle eventually stopped, and two individuals exited and entered a second vehicle. Police determined the original vehicle had been reported stolen.
ASU continued to monitor the second vehicle, and shortly after, officers successfully deployed a tire deflation device. The vehicle eventually came to a stop, and both occupants fled on foot. One individual was taken into custody a short time later, while the second was apprehended with the assistance of a Police Service Dog (PSD). The suspect was treated for injuries consistent with a dog bite.
