REGINA, Sask. — Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan invites the community to its upcoming Wheelchair Relay.
Organizers say the event, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17 in Regina, brings together community members, athletes, local leaders and supporters to promote accessibility, advance inclusion and celebrate the power of community.
The relay is from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at the Wascana Rehabilitation Centre Gymnasium.
The event will welcome Councillor Sarah Turnbull, who will take an active role in the relay by completing a lap herself. Her participation reflects the importance of moving beyond awareness to meaningful action and demonstrates a commitment to building a community where people of all abilities can participate, connect, and thrive, the organization says.
The Wheelchair Relay is more than a sporting event. It is an opportunity to challenge perceptions, encourage conversations about accessibility and highlight the importance of removing physical and social barriers faced by people living with spinal cord injuries and physical disabilities, says Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan.
Through participation, shared experiences, and community support, Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan says it hopes to inspire greater understanding and reinforce the message that accessibility and inclusion are shared responsibilities.
Spinal Cord Injury Saskatchewan invites members of the public to attend, cheer on participants, and take part in this celebration of determination, inclusion and community spirit.
