REGINA, Sask. – Premier Scott Moe is among those mourning the loss of a Saskatchewan individual in the CFB Wainwright tragedy on Saturday.
It was made public Sunday in a news conference by Maj. Gen. Wade Rutland, Commander of 1st Canadian Division, that Private Shaun Farrell of Prince Albert from the Third Battalion, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, was among the four people killed at CFB Wainwright.
Earlier on Sunday, Farrell's family confirmed the news in a Facebook post. Shaun's mother Patricia Farrell posted: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the news that our son, Shaun Farrell, has passed away to be with our Heavenly Father. We want to thank everyone for your love, support, and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. As our family navigates this profound loss, we kindly ask for privacy so that we may grieve together."
