The Melville Millionaires wrapped up a busy three-games-in-three-days road trip with five out of a possible six points after earning a 4-3 victory over the Kindersley Klippers on Sunday.
The Mils came out flying, opening up a two-goal lead in the first period.
Cole Brown got Melville on the board with his fourth goal of the season on the power play before Hudson Closson added his second of the campaign, driving to the net to make it 2-0 after 20 minutes.
Kindersley responded in the second period, scoring three unanswered goals to take the lead. Austin Schaefer struck twice in quick succession before Konnor Watson converted on the power play to put the Klippers ahead 3-2 heading into the third.
Melville found its answer in the final frame, with Keil Schmalz tying the game 6:44 into the period. Schmalz made a strong individual effort before snapping his first goal of the season over Klippers goaltender Mattias Radke.
Just over five minutes later, Schmalz struck again. He hammered home a one-timer off a pass from Rylan Oatman on the power play, giving the Millionaires a 4-3 lead with 8:08 remaining in regulation. The goal stood as the game-winner as Melville held on for the victory.
Seventeen-year-old Kaleb Page stopped 29 of 32 shots to earn his first SJHL win, while Radke made 26 saves on 30 shots in the loss.
The Millionaires will look to make it three straight wins Friday night when they return home to host the Battlefords North Stars.
Kindersley begins a three-game-in-four-night road trip Wednesday in Nipawin before visiting Flin Flon for games Friday and Saturday.
Elsewhere Sunday, the La Ronge Ice Wolves snapped a seven-game losing streak, closing out their three-game road trip with a 6-3 victory over the Estevan Bruins at Affinity Place.
