Canadian Western Agribition (CWA) announced the launch of a program encouraging livestock producers outside the Prairies to come to the show.
The Canadian Buyers Program is a partnership between CWA and Saskatchewan Trade and Export Partnership (STEP), through an existing funding agreement with Prairies Economic Development Canada (PrairiesCan).
The program offers qualified producers up to $1,000 toward eligible travel and accommodation expenses to attend Agribition.
In order to qualify, applicants must reside in Canada, outside of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta; not be registered as an exhibitor at Canadian Western Agribition; have the direct financial capacity or decision-making authority to purchase Canadian products or services; be interested in conducting business with Canadian businesses in livestock or agri-business markets; and attend Agribition for a minimum of three days.
CEO of Agribition Shaun Kindopp says producers spend a lot of money at Agribition as well as their ranch, so this is one way to help reduce the financial burden.
"We really value what everybody does in the livestock industry so anytime we can help give back in that way in partnership with our partners is a good day." Kindopp said.
The announcement follows efforts to recruit international buyers in recent years from countries including Argentina, Mexico, and Australia.
"Agribition always put a large focus on international development, we've been fortunate to travel around the world, recruiting incoming buyers, but we got some incredible buyers here in the country of Canada that we are looking forward to helping out and welcoming to Agribition." he said.
The deadline to apply is November 8. All information is available at agribition.com.
The 2026 edition of Canadian Western Agribition is November 23-28 in Regina.
