SASKATOON, Sask. — Harvard Media’s six radio stations across Saskatchewan, along with others, will take part in the 2026 Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 4 and 5, raising funds to improve care for the province’s youngest patients.
The annual event will fund the hospital’s Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) program, which provides doctors with portable bedside ultrasound imaging. The technology lets medical teams assess children faster, helping them reach diagnoses sooner and start treatment when every second counts.
Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital (JPCH), Saskatchewan’s only pediatric health-care facility, already uses POCUS technology in several departments, including the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and Children’s Emergency Department.
Funds raised through the radiothon will expand these capabilities and ensure medical teams have the equipment and training needed to care for critically ill and injured children and for some of the province’s most fragile premature infants.
The additional equipment is intended to strengthen the hospital’s ability to assess vulnerable newborns and support timely clinical decisions. The campaign will also help fund a new image archiving system that will provide a centralized repository for ultrasound images.
The system is expected to improve collaboration among physicians, specialists, nurses and transport teams, allowing medical professionals to review images and consult on complex pediatric cases across Saskatchewan, including during emergencies and patient transfers.
The campaign encourages donors to help provide the technology and training medical teams need to deliver timely, effective care to children across the province.
