REGINA, Sask. — City council has just appointed Chad Jedlic as Regina’s next city manager, selecting a longtime local resident and municipal development executive to oversee the city’s administration and approximately 3,000 employees.
Jedlic will officially take over the role on Jan. 4, 2027. He currently serves as the city’s director of land, real estate and economic development, a position he has held since joining the municipality in 2021.
Mayor Chad Bachynski said Jedlic’s leadership experience, collaborative approach and knowledge of Regina made him a strong choice for the position.
“Jedlic is a talented, thoughtful, logical and respected leader with a strong track record of collaboration, strategic thinking and delivering results,” Bachynski said. “His experience, combined with his innate understanding of our community, positions him well to lead the organization and work closely with Council as we continue building a strong and vibrant Regina.”
The appointment fills a key leadership position that has been held on an acting basis by Jim Nicol since May 2025, following the departure of former city manager Niki Anderson. Anderson was dismissed by council in July 2025, and the city began recruiting for a permanent replacement the following spring.
Jedlic brings experience from both municipal government and the private development sector. Before joining the city, he served as vice-president of development with Forster Harvard Development Corp. and spent more than a decade in senior development and property management positions with Harvard Developments.
His work has included land development, real estate, business attraction and economic growth. In his current role with the city, Jedlic has been involved in major development initiatives, including planning work connected to the Taylor Field redevelopment and the Yards project.
The city says his experience working with municipal councils, private investors and community leaders has given him a broad understanding of the relationships involved in building and growing a city.
Jedlic holds a master of business administration and a bachelor of science. His community involvement has also included volunteer and board leadership roles with the Regina and Region Home Builders’ Association, Regina Rowing Club and Cathedral Village Arts Festival.
In a statement, Jedlic said he was honoured to be selected and intends to work with elected officials, city employees and the broader community.
“Regina is a city with tremendous opportunity and I am committed to working with Council, City employees, community partners, businesses and residents to help advance our shared priorities and deliver excellent service for our community,” Jedlic said.
“I look forward to continuing to serve the city I am proud to call home.”
As city manager, Jedlic will serve as the administrative head of the municipality and be directly accountable to council. The role includes overseeing municipal service delivery and providing leadership across the organization.
Council also thanked Nicol for his work as acting city manager over the past year and a half, crediting him with providing steady guidance and expertise during the transition.
