MOOSE JAW, Sask. — Given the chance to choose a toy or a new dress, a young girl named Lily decided she wanted something for other people instead: groceries to donate to the Moose Jaw and District Food Bank.
Lily asked her parents to take her to the grocery store, where she personally selected every item she wanted to donate, according to food bank marketing specialist and event planner Toni Aquino.
“We recently had a very special visitor at the Moose Jaw Food Bank,” Aquino told MooseJawToday.com on Oct. 28.
Aquino said Lily’s donation highlighted how young people can support others in their community, with her decision to give offering a reminder that generosity can begin at an early age.
“It’s such a beautiful reminder that kindness has no age limit. At such a young age, Lily already has a generous heart and a desire to help people in her community,” Aquino said.
The food bank hopes sharing Lily’s story will encourage others in Moose Jaw to lend a hand wherever it’s needed most.
“We thought this would be a lovely story to share with the community and hopefully inspire others,” she added.
