REGINA, Sask. — Drivers in Regina can expect road closures and traffic restrictions at four locations beginning Nov. 3 as city crews carry out water main installation, sewer maintenance and other infrastructure work.
According to the City of Regina, the work will affect 15th Avenue, College Avenue, McDonald Street and Quebec Street, with some restrictions lasting through Nov. 7.
A section of 15th Avenue between Toronto Street and the east entrance to the hospital parking lot, near Ottawa Street, will be closed Nov. 3 for water main installation. The closure is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. and remain in place until 4 p.m.
On College Avenue, traffic restrictions will be in place between Princess Street and Argyle Street for storm sewer cleaning and inspection work.
Beginning at 7 a.m. Nov. 3, crews will use CCTV inspection vehicles, including a camera truck, hydro-vac truck and equipment truck, as they move between manholes at the intersections of College Avenue and Princess, McTavish and Argyle streets.
The city says the work will involve a moving construction zone, with traffic restrictions removed when crews are not present. Most individual work locations are expected to be active for only a few hours.
The restrictions are scheduled to continue until 7 p.m. Nov. 7.
A lane closure is also planned on McDonald Street near 402 McDonald St. for catch basin repairs. The closure is expected to begin at 8 a.m. Nov. 3 and end at 4 p.m. the same day.
Meanwhile, drivers on Quebec Street between Saskatchewan Drive and 11th Avenue can expect parking lane restrictions beginning Nov. 3.
Crews will carry out hydro-vac excavation work in the 1700 block of Quebec Street. Excavations will be backfilled daily or barricaded overnight if necessary.
The parking restrictions are expected to remain in place until 4 p.m. Nov. 6.
The city is encouraging Regina Transit passengers to check whether the roadwork will affect their bus routes or stops.
Motorists are also reminded to slow down and use caution when travelling through construction zones.
The City of Regina thanked residents for their patience while crews complete the work.
Updates on road closures, traffic restrictions and construction projects are available through the city's Road Report and Construction Map.
