Former Saskatchewan Roughriders punter Jon Ryan has written a heartfelt letter to Trevor Harris in the hopes of getting the veteran CFL quarterback to play one more season for the team.
“So this is a personal, admittedly selfish request from a proud Regina guy: I’d love to watch you lead our team for one more year,” Ryan wrote. “Thank you for what you’ve already done for the province I love.”
Ryan wrote a thread of five posts on Instagram on Monday, two days after the Riders were eliminated from the playoffs in a 33-26 loss to the B.C. Lions in the Western Semi-Final.
Harris has said he needs time to make up his mind on whether he’ll sign under contract and return to the Riders next season. The 40-year-old led the CFL with 5,370 yards this season after guiding the Riders to the 2025 Grey Cup championship, a game in which he was named Most Outstanding Player.
Ryan crossed paths with Harris years ago when he was with the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks.
