SASKATOON, Sask. — The annual Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Radiothon kicked off Wednesday, Nov. 4, with officers and volunteers coming out in full force for the fundraising event. Phone lines for the two-day event are open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Blue Cross, which has been a supporter of the foundation for many years, provided volunteers to staff the phones, with teams working in shifts to answer calls from people wanting to donate, while another group is tasked with reaching out to past donors, individuals and businesses.
Blue Cross has also been the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation's social media sponsor, and this year's phone volunteers are all first-timers lending their time to a worthy cause, with the fundraiser hoping to raise money for a new point-of-care ultrasound program.
Harvard Media's six radio stations across Saskatchewan, along with 30 other radio stations, are taking part in the 2026 Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Radiothon on Wednesday and Thursday, Nov. 4 and 5, raising funds to improve care for the province's youngest patients.
Jim Pattison Children's Hospital Foundation CEO Troy Davies said that, with the help of social media, especially with Blue Cross' assistance, the fundraising event was trending.
“As long as the phones keep on going and people are answering those phones,” said Davies, adding that the JPCH lobby felt positive and electrifying. “We’ve got a bunch of ambassador children and family here. So, it’s pretty exciting.
SaskToday will continue to cover the radiothon.
