ESTEVAN — An Estevan man has been arrested for sexual assault.
According to the Feb. 25 report from the Estevan Police Service, officers conducted an investigation with the assistance of the Criminal Investigation Unit regarding the incident. As a result, the EPS said the man was charged accordingly and will appear in court at a later date. No other details were released.
Also on the Feb. 25 report, police conducted a traffic stop to assess the sobriety of a driver. The EPS said the motorist was found to be unlicensed and displayed signs of impairment. The motorist admitted to prior drug use before operating the vehicle and was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital, where two blood samples were obtained. The samples will be submitted for forensic analysis. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Members conducted a traffic stop to assess the sobriety of another driver. A mandatory alcohol screening device demand was made and the driver provided a sample that the EPS said was a warn. The driver was bound by conditions to abstain from consuming alcohol and was arrested for breaching those requirements. She was transported to the police station for processing and later released into the care of a responsible adult. As a result of the breath demand result, the driver received a three-day driver’s licence suspension and a three-day vehicle impound.
The EPS received a report of a black SUV without a licence plate being driven erratically in north Estevan. The EPS said members patrolled the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.
A City of Estevan employee requested assistance with a member of the public who was shovelling snow from their property onto the street. The EPS said the individual became belligerent with city staff when advised to stop. Police attended and addressed the matter.
The EPS received a report of a theft from a local business. A statement was obtained and video surveillance was secured. The EPS said the matter remains under investigation.
Police were called about several youths vandalizing a local business. Police received the complaint after the youths had left the area. The EPS said extra patrols and walk-throughs will be conducted.
Membes conducted multiple curfew checks. All individuals were found to be compliant.
Officers attended a family dispute and mediated the situation.
Police responded to a report of a vehicle blocking a roadway. The driver was spoken to and the vehicle was moved.
Police received a report Feb. 26 of a child who was struck by a vehicle while walking to school. According to the EPS, no injuries were reported. Witness statements were obtained and the matter remains under investigation.
A report came in of a stolen vehicle from a local organization. Following an investigation, the EPS said it was determined that an employee had possession of the vehicle.
Police received a report of a missing child. The child had left a local school and his mother was unable to locate him. Members were dispatched and the EPS said the child was located a short time later at his residence.
The EPS was called about a vehicle being driven erratically on its way into Estevan. Members located the vehicle and the driver was issued a warning.
