SASKATOON — Police arrested three people Friday morning after officers boxed in a stolen vehicle at a west-side gas station and used a less lethal tool to force compliance.
Saskatoon police officers on patrol spotted the stolen vehicle just after 11 a.m. on Feb. 27 in the Pleasant Hill area, in the 800 block of 22nd Street West. Police say the vehicle was parked at a gas station with two people inside. Additional units moved in and surrounded the vehicle, and officers issued verbal commands to the occupants of the vehicle but they were ignored.
Police say a less-lethal weapon was used to smash the vehicle’s windows, allowing officers better visibility inside. One person exited and was arrested without incident. The second remained non-compliant, according to police, and the less-lethal tool was used again. He was then taken into custody. A third suspect was arrested inside the gas station without incident.
Police are continuing to investigate and charges against the two men, age 28 and 35, and a 30-year-old woman are pending.
