SASKATOON — A 34-year-old Saskatoon man is facing multiple charges after police say a pickup truck was seen driving into oncoming traffic late Tuesday night.
Police began receiving reports around 10:30 p.m. on March 3 that a red Ford F-150 was travelling dangerously in the area of Millar Avenue and 64th Street. When officers arrived, they found a man standing in the middle of the road beside a truck matching the description. According to police, he got back into the vehicle and refused to comply with a traffic stop.
Officers say the driver continued to evade police through the area of Wanuskewin Road and Highway 11. A tire-deflation device was used successfully, but the truck continued on its rims. The driver eventually left the highway and travelled at slow speeds along Range Road 3052.
Police used a patrol unit equipped with a safety bar to make controlled contact with the truck, bringing it to a stop.
The man was taken into custody and charged with dangerous driving, evading police, impaired driving and failing to provide a breath sample.
