ILE-A-LA-CROSSE – Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP reports a man was arrested after individuals were threatened with weapons.
On March 5 at approximately 10 a.m., Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP received reports of a man armed with a firearm and a knife.
Further investigation determined the man had threatened two individuals with the weapons. The individuals did not report physical injuries to police. Investigators also determined the man has assaulted an individual, who reported non-life-threatening injuries to police.
Île-à-la-Crosse RCMP located the man parked in a vehicle on Burnouf Street in Île-à-la-Crosse. The vehicle was subsequently searched, and the firearm, machete, as well as other weapons were seized. The male was arrested.
A 24-year-old man, from Île-à-la-Crosse, is charged with:
- one count, using firearm in commission of offence;
- two counts, assault with a weapon or causing bodily harm;
- four counts, uttering threats;
- five counts, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose; and
- one count, assault with a weapon or causing bodily harm.
The accused is appearing next in Île-à-la-Crosse court on March 9.
