REGINA — Regina police arrested a man early Thursday following an hours-long operation involving tactical and crisis-negotiation teams.
Officers were called shortly after 4:30 on March 4 to a disturbance at a home in the 3400 block of Park Street. Police say one of the residents, who was experiencing a mental-health crisis, had threatened to harm another person in the unit. The victim called police and left the apartment before officers arrived.
Inside the suite, officers reported finding several knives on the floor and broken glass. They located a man inside and tried to arrest him, but he ignored commands and locked himself in a bedroom.
Members of the Crisis Negotiation Team and Tactical Support Unit were called in to help. At about 12:30 a.m., negotiators were able to safely take the man into custody without further incident. Police say he was wanted on several outstanding warrants.
No charges were laid.
