WATERLOO, Ont. — University of Regina Rams defensive lineman Anthony Montas Leipert turned in an impressive performance at the Canadian Football League Invitational Combine on Friday in Waterloo, Ont. but it wasn't quite enough to earn a spot in the main event.
Leipert — a Regina product who came in at five-foot-10 and 255 pounds — put together top five finishes in five of six events as one of 11 defensive lineman taking part, which acts as a qualifier for the CFL Combine running March 27-29 in Edmonton.
That included the best time among defensive linemen with a 7.64 second showing in the three-cone drill, 21 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press (tied for fourth), a 4.97 40-yard dash (third), eight-foot-six-and-three-eights inch broad jump (third) and 4.59 second shuttle run (second). Leipert also finished seventh with a 24-inch vertical jump.
University of Regina Rams linebacker Colin McKellar also turned in an impressive showing on the bench press, finishing with 29 reps to land tops at his position and second overall.
