SASKATOON — Two people are facing a combined 17 charges after Saskatoon police recovered a pellet gun left behind in a taxi and later seized multiple weapons and drugs from a motel suite.
Police were called around 9:30 p.m. on March 10 after a report that two passengers in cab who got out in the 1300 block of Eighth Street East had left behind a firearm on the backseat. Officers seized the weapon, which was determined to be a pellet gun, and traced the pair to a suite in a nearby motel.
A man and woman were arrested at the motel. Police say their investigation turned up a machete, two knives, two expandable batons, three cans of bear spray, several cell phones, cash, and methamphetamine packed for distribution.
A 26-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman are now charged with 17 offences relating to weapons and drug trafficking.
Police didn’t release their names.
