Just as Scott Moe did on Tuesday, Regina’s Mayor says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau needs to find a way to get Saskatchewan’s resources to market and end the division between western and eastern Canada.
Michael Fougere said with Ralph Goodale out as M.P for Regina-Wascana and Public Safety Minister, Saskatchewan needs to be concerned that there is no one representing us in cabinet anymore.
“We have no representative in cabinet anymore with Mr. Goodale gone, so we hope they’ll take this to heart and actually listen to what Regina and Saskatchewan has said, and act upon that,” Fougere said.
Goodale held his seat in Ottawa for 26-years before losing to Conservative Michael Kram Monday night.
That was part of a 14 seat sweep for the Conservatives in Saskatchewan, in Alberta all but one seat is blue, with Edmonton-Strathcona going NDP.
Fougere said that divisiveness also needs to be addressed.
“We want to make sure he (Trudeau) understands our concerns,” said Fougere. ” So infrastructure, certainly the underpinning of our economy, oil and gas and getting that to international markets, these are all big issues and certainly people here spoke with one big voice,” Fougere said.
