REGINA — It's retirement time for one of Regina Police Service's most beloved members.
Police Service Dog Hektor, Badge 8212, joined the Regina Police Service in 2018 and is now retired.
In a Facebook post, RPS says Hektor was trained for both general duties and drug detection but excelled when it came to tracking suspects and locating evidence. PSD Hektor’s proficiency in tracking/searches earned him awards at the Canadian Police Canine Association Trials in both 2022 and 2024.
"This K9 loved coming to work every day, helping to keep our city safe alongside his handler and the rest of the RPS team," states the Facebook post. "Now he’s officially retired with plans to 'live the dream', whether it’s at the lake or the farm. He also has his three human siblings to keep him on his toes."
