SASKATOON — A 33-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman are facing multiple charges after Saskatoon police were called to a disturbance involving a fire extinguisher in a Varsity View apartment building Sunday afternoon.
Police were dispatched at about 12:15 p.m. on March 15 to a multi-unit residence in the 1200 block of Temperance Street for what was initially reported as an unknown problem. When officers arrived, they found a 23-year-old resident who said an unknown man had been knocking on suite doors, damaging property and discharging a fire extinguisher inside the building before fleeing.
Officers located the suspect nearby along with two women. The man was taken into custody and found to be carrying an expandable baton. One of the women was found with a knife and fentanyl. The second woman wasn’t charged.
The man is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, carrying a concealed weapon, assault, and mischief over $5,000.
The woman is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, possession of fentanyl, and breach of an undertaking.
Police say the victim had minor injuries.
