NORTH BATTLEFORD — A man already facing 32 charges, including weapons and drug trafficking offences, is back in custody after being accused of failing to comply with a release order on March 13.
Robert Norgaard appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on March 17 on breach charge and he was remanded. His case has been adjourned to March 24 for a bail hearing.
The drug and weapons charges stem from a traffic stop on Poundmaker Cree Nation on Nov. 8, 2025. RCMP say they pulled over Norgard, who was driving a black Cadillac Escalade. A search of the vehicle revealed a hidden compartment containing six firearms, four of which were loaded with ammunition in the chamber. Police also say Norgaard was wearing soft body armour and was in possession of a large hunting knife at the time of his arrest.
His charges include numerous firearm offences, including possession of several loaded weapons without a license (a sawed-off shotgun, a shotgun, a .22 rifle, and a prohibited double-barrel shotgun). He is also charged with possession of weapons for a dangerous purpose and with having two firearms that had their serial numbers removed.
Additional charges include having prohibited weapons (knuckle dusters, a collapsible baton, and a knife) for a dangerous purpose. He is also charged with possession of cocaine and methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of unstamped tobacco.
