YORKTON — Michelle Myrowich was sick and home from work when she got some news that had her suddenly feeling a lot better: she won a whopping $2.5 million on Lotto 6/49.
“I had just woken up and thought I’d check a few tickets on [the Lotto Spot app],” she said. “I got excited because I saw I’d won a Free Play on one of them and then I scanned this one.”
The Yorkton winner couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw her Lotto 6/49 ticket was a winner and sent a screenshot to her husband, who was at work at the time.
“He didn’t check his phone right away, so I called him,” she laughed. “I said, ‘Can you check your text messages?’”
Her husband was stunned, and so was she while delivering the news.
“I started shaking and he had to pinch himself,” she said. “We were just dumbfounded.”
“We both went to work the next day and we were very distracted,” she added, laughing.
Myrowich said she is excited to enjoy the winnings with her family.
“It’s life-changing,” she beamed. “We’re going to pay everything off, support our daughter in university, and I’m also looking at maybe buying a new Jeep!”
“Our pets (two cats and a dog) will likely get spoiled more than they already are,” she continued. “Our dog goes to the groomer tomorrow!”
Myrowich purchased her winning Lotto 6/49 ticket from Palliser Way C-Store at 110 Palliser Way in Yorkton. She won her prize in the March 4 Lotto 6/49 Classic Draw by matching all six numbers: 2, 18, 30, 39, 40, and 44. The prize was split with another winning ticket in Ontario that also matched the exact selection.
