Despite the forecast calling for sunshine and a high in the upper teens Friday in Regina, things won’t be that nice everywhere in the province.
Many people will be on the highway on Friday heading to the Queen City for the Heritage Classic.
Environment Canada’s Terri Lang thinks those travellers could experience some ugly weather.
“There is a fairly major weather system expected to move through the province through the day on Friday, more so late in the day but it’s going to bring snow to central parts of the province, much more significantly it’s going to bring a lot of wind to southern Saskatchewan.
Lang says the potential for wind warnings to be issued is there across the province with gusts around 80 or 90 km/h in the southwest.
For game day on Saturday, Regina will not see the same warm temperature as expected on Friday, with Lang expecting the high to maybe reach zero or plus one combined with breezy conditions, which is nothing Mosaic Stadium crowds haven’t experienced before for Rider games at this time of year
The majority of the snow is expected to be in the Buffalo Narrows region of northern Saskatchewan
