CARLYLE — The Carlyle RCMP recently hosted a mass casualty training session at the Carlyle Fire Hall.
Representatives in attendance included the detachment; the Gordon F Kells High School; Carlyle Elementary School; White Bear Education Complex; Arcola Hospital; Supreme Ambulance; RM of Moose Mountain and Carlyle town councils; and the Carlyle, Manor, Kisbey, Arcola, White Bear and Kenosee fire departments.
The session included an information presentation for all participants, followed by a table-top exercise for the RCMP, Supreme Ambulance, and fire chiefs and deputy fire chiefs.
“This helped emergency services and community partners to work through response planning together,” stated a Facebook post from the Carlyle Fire and Rescue.
“Training like this helps ensure all agencies are on the same page and prepared to work together if ever needed. Thank you to the RCMP for organizing and to everyone who participated.”
A news release from the Carlyle RCMP stated the event brought together a wide range of community partners and agencies that may be involved in or affected by a mass-casualty incident.
The Carlyle RCMP led a presentation that outlined a mock mass-casualty scenario, highlighting the roles and responsibilities of each participating agency during a real-world event. Officers then guided the tabletop exercise, encouraging discussion around safety considerations and best practices.
The RCMP says the detachment held the training exercise to strengthen the co-ordinated response amongst community partners and enhance the overall crisis preparedness of the communities in their detachment area.
