PAYNTON – Maidstone RCMP are investigating a two-vehicle collision near Paynton.
On March 19 at approximately 9 p.m., Maidstone RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 16, west of Paynton.
Officers responded immediately. Local fire and multiple EMS services, including STARS, also responded to the collision. The investigation determined a truck and a second vehicle collided. Police are working to confirm the second damaged vehicle’s type.
The driver and sole occupant of the truck was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as non-life-threatening in nature.
The driver of the second vehicle was taken to hospital by EMS with injuries described as serious in nature. A teenaged passenger in the second vehicle was taken to hospital by STARS with injuries described as serious in nature. A second passenger, an adult, was taken to hospital by EMS for further assessment.
The eastbound lanes of Highway 16 were closed for multiple hours but have since been reopened.
