SWIFT CURRENT — Fan Appreciation Night brought excitement, star power, and one of Canada’s most iconic sports trophies to the InnovationPlex on Friday. The Grey Cup made a special appearance, joined by Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Trevor Harris and the team’s beloved mascot, Gainer the Gopher.
The event was a sellout as nearly 3,000 fans filled the arena to watch an all‐Saskatchewan matchup between the Swift Current Broncos and the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors.
Adding to the evening’s energy, the Broncos debuted a one‑of‑a‑kind special‑edition jersey created in collaboration with the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The design celebrated the Riders’ 2025 Grey Cup Championship and was worn exclusively for the game. The crossover jersey generated plenty of buzz among fans eager to see the two teams connected in such a creative way.

As doors opened, fans from across the province lined up for photos with Trevor Harris, Gainer, and the Grey Cup itself. Among them were Karri and Rodney Williams and Samuel Poole, who made the 1.5‑hour drive from Maple Creek to take part in the festivities.
Rodney shared how the trip came to be. Pointing to Samuel, he said, “He told me, ‘If the Grey Cup ever comes to Swift Current, we should go.’ Then Karri found a post on Facebook saying they were having a signing here for Fan Appreciation Night. We thought, ‘So cool! Let’s go!’”
Karri added, “We’ve always been Bronco fans, and we’re definitely Rider fans, so we thought this was a great opportunity to come out and see both.”
Although the Broncos fell 4–1 to the Warriors, the night remained a major success thanks to the special guests, the unique jerseys, and the energetic crowd. Fans left with smiles, autographs, and memorable photos — a fitting celebration for Fan Appreciation Night in Swift Current.
