SASKATOON — A 38-year-old Saskatoon man is facing drug and weapons charges after police were called to remove a group of people trespassing inside a downtown business early Friday.
Officers were dispatched around 2:15 a.m. on March 27 to the 300 block of 2nd Avenue North, where staff reported several people refusing to leave the premises. Police began clearing the group when they arrived, but one man believed to be under the influence of an intoxicant, refused to comply.
As officers continued speaking with him, they noticed a collapsible baton in his possession. He was arrested without incident and found to be breaching court-ordered conditions.
A search of his backpack uncovered 190 grams of methamphetamine, according to police.
He was charged with with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and breach of probation.
