HARRIS — Update, March 27: Two people have died following a collision near Harris.
On March 26 at approximately 1:15 p.m., Rosetown RCMP received a report of a collision between two vehicles on Highway 7, just west of Harris.
Officers responded along with local fire and EMS. The investigation determined that a van and an SUV had collided on the highway.
The driver and a passenger of the van were declared dead by EMS at the scene. They have been identified as a 33-year-old woman and 37-year-old man from Saskatoon. Their families have been notified. A second passenger in the van was transported to hospital by ambulance with injuries described as non-life threatening in nature.
The driver and passenger of the SUV received treatment for minor injuries and serious injuries respectively and were transported to hospital by ambulance.
Rosetown RCMP continue to investigate with the assistance of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
Original post, March 26: Rosetown RCMP are reporting on March 26 that they are currently on the scene of a serious collision on Highway 7, just west of Harris.
As this investigation is in the preliminary stages, police say they do not have additional details to share at this time.
The highway is currently closed for an undetermined amount of time. Detours are in place and motorists should expect delays in the area. People are asked to slow down and follow the instructions of emergency personnel on the scene.
