Saskatchewan’s contingent held its own on one of the biggest evaluation stages in Canadian football, with four athletes from provincial programs turning in solid performances at the 2026 CFL Combine.
Representing the University of Regina Rams were offensive lineman Ethan Graham and defensive back Carson Sombach, while the University of Saskatchewan Huskies sent offensive lineman Jack Warrack and defensive lineman Charlie Parks.
The headline performance among the group came from Parks, who turned heads by posting the fastest 40-yard dash time among all defensive linemen at the combine. The Huskies standout clocked a 4.87-second run, good for first at his position and one of the most impressive speed showings from a lineman in Edmonton.
Parks also delivered a well-rounded testing profile, finishing tied for seventh in the bench press (15 reps), tied for sixth in the vertical jump (30 inches), third in the broad jump (9’9 1/8”), second in the three-cone drill (7.35 seconds), and sixth in the shuttle (4.75 seconds). His across-the-board results only reinforced his status as a disruptive, athletic presence on the defensive line.
Sombach, a Regina Rams defensive back, showcased his quickness and agility throughout the testing. He posted 14 bench reps and ran a 4.74-second 40-yard dash, while placing particularly well in the three-cone drill (third) and shuttle (fourth). His broad jump of 9’8 1/4” ranked fifth among defensive backs, highlighting his explosiveness.
On the offensive line side, Graham delivered one of the strongest performances in the bench press with 20 reps, tying for seventh at his position. He added a top-three finish in the broad jump (8’9 1/4”) and posted mid-pack results across the remaining events, including a 5.34-second 40-yard dash.
Warrack, representing the Huskies, recorded 12 reps on the bench and a 5.71-second 40-yard dash. His best showing came in the broad jump, where he finished fifth with a leap of 8’4 1/2”, while also placing inside the top 10 in the vertical jump and shuttle.
While Parks led the way among Saskatchewan athletes, the overall fastest 40-yard dash time at the combine belonged to Université de Montréal defensive back Louis-Philippe Gauthier, who posted a blazing 4.50 seconds. Gauthier, a key piece of the defending Vanier Cup champion Carabins, continued to build on an impressive collegiate résumé that includes multiple all-star honours and a strong playoff track record.
For Saskatchewan’s four representatives, the combine served as a valuable opportunity to boost their stock ahead of the CFL Draft. With strong individual showings, highlighted by Parks’ elite speed for a defensive lineman, the province’s talent once again proved it can compete with the best in the country.
The Combine’s on-field workouts continue on Saturday with team-oriented drills.
