ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service (EPS) Drug Intelligence Unit (DIU), in conjunction with members from the EPS patrol division, made an arrest March 26 stemming from an investigation into drug trafficking in the city.
According to an EPS news release, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested 42-year-old Shawn Patrick Loughren. He has been charged with trafficking cocaine, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.
The value of the cocaine seized and the amount of the currency were not released by the EPS.
The EPS said search warrants authorized under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act were executed at an apartment in the 900 block of 13th Avenue and on a vehicle. As a result of the investigation, police seized cocaine, Canadian currency and evidence of drug trafficking.
Loughren was remanded in police custody and made his first appearance in Estevan Provincial Court on March 30. He was held in custody for another appearance later in the day.
