The city of Regina started its mosquito control program on Monday.
The city had said because of program reductions, it was going to monitor the situation before moving forward with treatment.
It has been determined treatment will be needed so the plan is to move forward with the program.
In a release issued Monday morning, the city says it will begin treating bodies of water in areas across the city by applying an organic product called ‘Vectobac” to the standing bodies of water when mosquito larvae can be found. This will prevent the pesky little creatures that ruin our summer evenings from multiplying.
Reginans are also being asked to check their property for bodies of standing water and to empty them to stop mosquito larvae from hatching.
