REGINA — When the Saskatchewan Health Association announced it would adjust its hours on Saturday and be closed on Sunday, the NDP issued a statement of protest.
“The Sask. Party has broken their promise of 24/7 urgent care because they have run so many doctors and nurses out of our province. After 20 years in power, the Sask. Party has broken healthcare in this province, and they can’t be trusted to fix it,” said Meara Conway, Saskatchewan NDP Shadow Minister for Health, in a release Friday.
“[Premier Scott] Moe has no real plan to get the healthcare system back on track,” said Conway. “We’ve been asking from day one what the plan was to staff this Urgent Care Centre, and this government still doesn’t have an answer. Their only response to a growing healthcare crisis is more photo ops and ribbon cuttings without any plan to address the staffing crisis," she said.
The SHA says the Regina Urgent Care Centre will operate with adjusted hours of:
- Saturday, April 4, 2026 – open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Sunday, April 5, 2026 – facility closed
On Friday, April 3, the Regina Urgent Care Centre will be open its regular hours of 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and will return to its regular hours (8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.) on Monday, April 6, says the SHA, adding that pro-active service adjustments are to accommodate physician availability and to proactively ensure the availability of services for our patients.
The SHA says, during times when the Regina Urgent Care Centre is not operating, patients experiencing medical emergencies should call 9-1-1 or proceed to the nearest hospital emergency department at:
- Regina General Hospital – 1440 14th Avenue, Regina; or
- Pasqua Hospital – 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina.
For non-emergency medical care, patients can access information and care by:
- Calling HealthLine 811 – For professional health and mental health advice available 24/7.
- Visit a walk-in clinic – Check local clinic hours as weekend and statutory holiday schedules may vary.
- Connect with your pharmacy – Some pharmacies may be open and can assist with minor health concerns.
