SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Police are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision on the westbound off-ramp to Highway 16 from Idylwyld Drive.
Police said at just after 5 a.m. Saturday that members of the Collison Analyst Unit and Traffic Section were on the scene investigating.
The City of Saskatoon says fire crews also attended the scene. They located four occupants, including three who had been ejected from the vehicle and one who was entrapped. One occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene by fire crews and paramedics. Fire crews used extrication tools to remove the entrapped occupant from the vehicle.
A 24-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 21-year-old man, a 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
The Collision Analyst Unit continues to investigate the collision.
Highway 16 from the northbound lanes of Idylwyld Drive and both southbound lanes of Idylwyld Drive at Marquis Drive were closed until the afternoon. Just before 3 p.m., the City of Saskatoon said all traffic restrictions and barricades had been lifted at the westbound exit to Highway 16 from the northbound lanes of Idylwyld Drive, as well as both southbound lanes of Idylwyld Drive at Marquis Drive. Traffic is open in all directions.
