The Heritage Classic in Regina on Saturday night drew fans from all across Western Canada to Mosaic Stadium, to see the Winnipeg Jets take on the Calgary Flames.
One if those fans was John Potter, who traveled from Minnedosa, Manitoba for the game.
He said the event deserves a glowing review.
“I loved the atmosphere, it was fantastic,” he said. Everyone’s happy to be here, friendly and excited, it’s great,” Potter added.
Adam Barrie traveled from Fort McMurray for the game, He said the experience was so good, it’s something the NHL should explore further.
“We defiantly should have some more neutral games like here again or maybe Hamilton, somewhere like that,” Barrie said.
The announced attendance at the Heritage Classic was 33,518, which is considered a sell-out.
Jayce Nikbakht volunteered with the Junior A Notre Dame Hounds.
He said he was glad to be a part of such a historic experience.
“It’s obviously a good experience to be involved with an to get the chance to see hockey players that you look up to and inspire to be like,” Nikbakht said.
No only was the atmosphere as perfect as can be with the snow falling and the lively crowd, the game ended up being an exciting one as well with the Jets taking it 2-1 in overtime.
