SASKATOON – Update: The Saskatoon Police Service has arrested and charged one male in relation to three robbery and bear spray incidents in February.
A 17-year-old male youth has been charged with one count of robbery, two counts of assault, and three counts each of breaching court-imposed conditions, possession of a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
Police are continuing to investigate.
Police are investigating following several robberies in Saskatoon.
Shortly before 9 p.m. on Feb. 11, police were called to a business in the 3000 block of Preston Avenue South for a report of an attempted robbery. Further investigation determined that a group of people entered the business and asked to handle a product; upon staff declining, a confrontation occurred and one of the persons from the group discharged bear spray. The group then fled the business.
Approximately 15 minutes later, police were called to a business in the 1800 block of McOrmand Drive for a report of a robbery. The suspects had fled prior to police arrival; however, the investigation determined that a group of people entered the business and, upon viewing a product, discharged bear spray towards an employee, stole the product, and fled.
Later, at around 10:45 p.m., police were called to a business in the 10 block of Assiniboine Drive for a report of a robbery in which bear spray was discharged. The investigation found that a male had entered the business and, upon being refused service, discharged bear spray towards staff and fled.
All three incidents are believed to be related and police are continuing to investigate.
