ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service has announced several charges against a man following an incident at a residence.
According to the police report for April 7, members responded to a report of an attempted break and enter to a residence in central Estevan. The EPS said members attended and located a 48-year old Estevan man, who is known to the complainant, hiding in the backyard after the EPS said he broke a window and attempted to kick in the building's door.
The EPS said the man was arrested without incident and is believed to have been attempting to engage in a fight with the occupants. According to the EPS, he was found to have knives and a club at the time of his arrest and as such, has been charged with trespass by night, possession of weapons dangerous to the public, mischief and failing to comply with conditions of an undertaking.
The EPS said the accused will initially appear before a justice of the peace and will attend Estevan Provincial Court at a future date to speak to the charges.
Officers also received a report of individuals trespassing near a residence. Members attended but were unable to locate anyone or any evidence of the people as described by the complainant. The EPS says the incident is believed to be unfounded.
