Regina city council will be discussing a possible ban on single-use plastics at their meeting Monday night
A motion on the matter calling for city administration to develop a report outlining the environmental impact of single-use plastics in Regina and consider a range of solutions to tackle the problem was made at the last meeting.
The motion deals specifically with things like plastic bags and calls for talks with the public to help create the bylaw along with other things like a public awareness campaign on the issue and what penalties one could face if they are in violation
Council will also talk about parking at the old Taylor Field as they will vote on a motion asking administration to come forth wtih a report on what revenue could be generated by turning the old home of the Riders into a parking lot when there are events at Mosaic Stadium. Flegel says with the Grey Cup coming next year, it is an issue that should be discussed seeing the lot is currently vacant.
The plan is for a new neighbourhood to be built at that location.
