ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service responded to a bicycle theft, arrested a person on outstanding warrants and handled other calls in recent days.
The EPS received a theft of property report from a residence on April 8. The EPS said a statement was obtained and the matter remains under investigation.
Members received a report of a bicycle theft from a residence in central Estevan. The EPS said the bike's locking mechanism bike was damaged when the bike was stolen. The investigation into this matter is also ongoing.
The EPS arrested a 35-year-old Lampman man on outstanding warrants for traffic offences in both Weyburn and Estevan. Police said he was subsequently released with new court dates in both jurisdictions to answer to the charges.
Police assisted St. Joseph’s Hospital staff by locating and returning a patient who repeatedly left the hospital without medical clearance. The patient was eventually admitted.
An orange KTM dirt bike was reported to be driving erratically and at a high rate of speed in east Estevan. The EPS says it is seeking the public’s assistance in reporting similar incidents or identifying the bike and rider. The matter is under investigation.
Police received an erratic driving complaint. The vehicle was located and the EPS said the driver was issued a ticket for driving without reasonable consideration for others.
A traffic stop during the night shift resulted in a youth motorist with a novice driver’s licence being issued a 60-day driving suspension and a three-day vehicle impoundment after performing poorly on standardized field sobriety tests. The EPS said the driver displayed signs of impairment believed to be associated with recent cannabis consumption.
The EPS received a request from the Regina Police Service (RPS) on April 9 to locate an individual that the RPS believed was living in Estevan. The person, who was wanted on an assault and sexual assault file from Regina, was located and determined to be living elsewhere in Saskatchewan. The EPS said the RCMP has been notified of the request and provided with the location of the individual for follow-up.
A mischief to a vehicle was reported during the night shift. The victim reported multiple items repeatedly being placed on his vehicle, which the victim believes are intended as harassment. The EPS said the matter is under investigation.
Police were called to a local liquor establishment in response to an individual who was breaching his court-ordered conditions to not be in a liquor establishment. Members attended but the EPS said the man had left prior to police arrival. The matter remains under investigation.
