REGINA — According to the City of Regina, work resumed on the McCarthy Boulevard Sewer Renewal Project last week. The project will update a critical wastewater pipe that carries nearly 100 per cent of Regina’s wastewater.
The city says the sewer renewal involves relining a significant section of the wastewater pipe, extending its life by about 50 years.
Ongoing lane restrictions are anticipated throughout the project, with a short, full road closure of McCarthy Boulevard between Mikkelson Drive and the railway tracks from April 11 to 12. Residents are reminded to plan ahead, slow down and drive safely
The project will involve reinstalling a temporary sewer bypass pipe along McCarthy Boulevard between the railway tracks and Mikkelson Drive. In a second phase, crews will prepare the wastewater pipe for relining by cleaning out any existing debris before installing the new liner. The project is expected to be completed by late August 2026.
