REGINA — The RM of Sherwood has found a temporary replacement on its council after four members resigned in March.
According to the municipality’s website, Ray Orb has been appointed as the reeve.
Orb had been the president of Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities until 2024, and was also a reeve with the RM of Cupar. He replaced the RM of Sherwood’s former reeve, Susan Oakley-Paul.
Mitch Huber will now fill the role of Division 2 councillor. left vacant by Trent Reiger. Huber is a former reeve of the RM of Edenwold.
The new Division 3 councillor is Donna Strudwick, replacing John Wilke. She has served on the RM of Sherwood’s development appeals board.
Lastly, Judy Harwood slots in the role of Division 6 councillor formerly held by Grant Paul. Harwood is a former reeve of the RM of Corman Park.
The new appointments were handled by the Government of Saskatchewan.
The four council members resigned without providing an explanation, with the announcement coming shortly after the province and Bell Canada revealed plans for a new AI data centre in the RM.
Last week, the RM of Sherwood released a report to address several concerns related to the new centre, which will be further discussed on April 20.
The new temporary members will hold their positions until November, when the RM holds a general municipal election.
