SASKATOON — Saskatoon Police are investigating after responding to bear spray related calls over the weekend in Pleasant Hill and Meadowgreen neighbourhoods.
At around 9:45 p.m. on April 10, police were called to the 800 block of Northumberland Avenue for a report of an injured male.
Officers arrived on scene and located a male suffering from the effects of bear spray. Officers learned the man was approached by two males who asked for money and a cigarette before one of them allegedly discharged bear spray at the victim and fled on foot.
On April 11, at approximately 4:50 p.m., officers were dispatched to an injured person call at a business in the 1300 block of 22nd Street West. Initial call information indicated that a female was bear sprayed outside the store.
Arriving officers located the 24-year-old woman suffering from the effects of bear spray. The suspect and victim are believed to be known to each other.
