RED SERGE TIP
Fuel the Farm, not the thief! With gas prices climbing faster than a calf at weaning time, your fuel tanks are looking mighty attractive… not just to you, but to would-be thieves too. Keep your hard-earned fuel where it belongs.
Lock it up tight– Secure fuel tanks with proper locks and consider anti-siphoning devices. If it's easy to access, it's easy to steal.
Light it right– Motion lights can turn a sneaky midnight fuel grab into an unexpected spotlight performance.
Camera confidence– Even a basic camera system can make thieves think twice.
Keep track– Regularly check fuel levels.
Neighbourhood watch– Keep an eye out for unfamiliar vehicles or activity. Thieves don’t like being noticed. If someone’s “just passing through” at 2 a.m. with a jerry can, they’re probably not borrowing sugar. If you spot suspicious activity, report it to the local RCMP. Let’s keep our farms running and thieves walking.
