SASKATOON — Saskatoon police arrested a 20-year-old man following an armed robbery at a business on the city’s west side Wednesday night.
Officers were called to business in the 1600 block of 33rd Street West at about 8 p.m. on April 15 for a report of a robbery that had just occurred.
Police say a man entered a business and started loading several bottles of alcohol into a duffle bag. When confronted, the suspect brandished a bladed weapon before fleeing in a silver Mazda.
Officers observed the vehicle travelling in the Confederation Drive area a short time later and conducted a traffic stop. A man matching the robbery suspect’s description was arrested from the vehicle. Police found the stolen alcohol, a baton, and a machete near the passenger’s seat.
The suspect has been charged with two counts of possession of a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, robbery, and committing an indictable offence while masked.
