PUNNICHY – Charges connected to a break-in and arson on the George Gordon First Nation have been dropped, after the accused, 36-year-old Myles Anderson of Regina, was murdered in the Queen City on April 13.
Regina police and the Saskatchewan Coroners Service began investigating after Anderson was found dead in Regina’s North Central neighbourhood. Regina Police Service say officers were called to the 3100 block of 5th Avenue at about 1:15 a.m. on April 13. Investigators later determined the death to be a homicide.
Regarding the incident on George Gordon First Nation, on the morning of Feb. 1, Punnichy RCMP received a report of a fire at a home on the reserve.
Later that day, Mounties received calls about a man walking with a firearm on the First Nation, and a suspect was subsequently arrested.
The investigation determined that a man had broken into the residence, stolen a firearm, and started a fire.
