REGINA — The City of Regina is seeing an increase in project costs in the first quarter of 2026.
Information gathered from the city’s permit page shows roughly 530 building permits issued in the first three months of 2026, totalling an approximate $147 million price tag.
Compared to the first quarter of 2025, total construction costs have increased by over 50 per cent (roughly $71 million last year with 524 permits).
Of the approximate 530 building permits issued in the first quarter of 2026, 247 were for alterations and improvements, while 109 were for new construction projects.
The priciest building permits were awarded to a new warehouse at 710 Honeyman Bay at $5.5 million and alternations/improvements to the Saskatchewan Bureau of Statistics building for roughly $4.9 million.
In the first quarter of 2025, the two highest building permits were new condos by Arbutus Properties in Eastgate for $33 million, and alterations and improvements at the University of Regina for over $2.7 million.
2025 alone saw the city hand out 2,833 permits, a number 2026 is on track to surpass.
