ESTEVAN — The Estevan Police Service (EPS) is investigating a report of a cash register being broken into at Affinity Place.
According to the April 20 police report, the incident is believed to have occurred over the weekend. The EPS Forensic Identification Unit attended to process the scene for physical evidence. Surveillance video is being obtained.
In an email to SaskToday, Deputy Police Chief Warren Morrical said the break-in occurred in the concession area. At this time, the investigation is looking into the amount of cash stolen.
He added it is unknown if the theft is connected to a break-in from April 17 at one of the out-buildings at Affinity Place. The EPS reported locks were broken and the out-building appeared to have been entered.
Also on April 20, an investigation into an assault complaint resulted in a traffic stop during the day shift. The EPS said the accused was located hiding inside the vehicle. He was arrested without incident and lodged in cells to appear in court on April 21.
Members attended to an alarm at the Estevan Provincial Courthouse that the EPS said was determined to be false.
Police also responded to a false alarm at a local financial institution.
A hit-and-run collision was reported in the east industrial area that the EPS said remains under investigation.
A break and enter from a residence was investigated. The EPS said a youth who had been staying at the residence had entered through a window and let several others into the building after unlocking the door from the inside. No charges were filed in the incident and the youths involved were released to their parents.
