SASKATOON — The weather is slowly warming up in Saskatoon and the Saskatoon Police Service is encouraging motorcyclists to drive safe and use caution when driving in the city.
As the snow melts, gravel and potholes are common on streets around Saskatoon. While City of Saskatoon crews work to fill potholes and sweep our streets in the weeks ahead, we encourage motorcyclists to operate with an increased level of caution.
On April 20, members of the Saskatoon Police Service Traffic Unit conducted three traffic stops where they observed and charged motorcyclists exceeding the speed limit by more than 50 km/h:
- $977 ticket for travelling 156 km/h in a 90 km/h zone
- $955 ticket for travelling 124 km/h in a 60 km/h zone
- $899 ticket for travelling 119 km/h in a 60 km/h zone
In addition to the ticket, each driver received a 7-day license suspension and a 30-day motorcycle impound.
Drive safe, Saskatoon.
